Not only are a majority of Ukrainians now in favor of ending the war in exchange for territory, but also now a majority of Poles.

A new survey out of the Polish CBOS shows that some 55 percent of the Polish population now supports ending the war in Ukraine, even if it means Kyiv loses territory to Moscow. Ukrainska Pravda notes that this is the first time since the start of Russia’s aggression that Poles are prioritizing peace.

The majority previously opposed any “peace for territory” solution, while those in favor stood at 39 percent in September and just 26 percent in April 2022.

As for Poles who believe Ukraine should continue the war and offer up no compromise, 31 percent favor this stance. Poland has been one of Ukraine’s closest allies and was the first country to send Kyiv tanks and modern artillery.

In stark contrast to this survey, Polish President Andrzej Duda has said Poland will send its remaining MiG-29s to Ukraine as long as NATO guarantees the security of the country’s airspace until Warsaw receives new aircraft. And after meeting with Zelensky, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk came out saying that Ukraine has no reason to make concessions to Russia in the event of peace talks; he also clarified that Poland has no current plans to send troops to Ukraine.

“Stop speculating about Ukraine’s possible defeat. It has nothing to do with the facts,“ Tusk posted on X.

Meanwhile, UNIAN reports that Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to President Zelensky, says: ”There is currently no possibility of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia,” as the positions of the two countries are completely incomparable.

Recently, another poll from Gallup Research found that a majority of Ukrainians want peace and are willing to give up territory to obtain it.
