Appearing on wPolsce24 TV, the Law & Justice (PiS) deputy chairman, Przemysław Czarnek, was asked directly if a government takeover was possible.

Conceding that there is no political reason for any imminent government collapse and snap elections, the PiS politician added that “you always have to be ready for it,” reports wPolityce.

“Politics isn’t just about reason; it’s also largely about emotions, which can’t be fully predicted,” he continued, pointing to cracks in the ruling coalition and some recent outbursts in the Sejm, which “could herald certain tremors, even tectonic shifts, that could lead to powerful emotions and the government’s collapse.”

“And we always need to seize such moments in our situation, because Tusk’s government is destroying the state before our eyes, dismantling it in many areas. Therefore, the sooner it falls, the better. So let’s count on the emotions that are stirring today in the Sejm. Let’s count on this gentleman, Marshal Szyman Hołownia, who, along with other MPs, is standing up to Tusk. Let’s count on the fact that some MPs in today’s December 13th coalition will no longer want to support a government that is destroying the Polish state. I believe these are also the motivations of Szymon Hołownia and at least some of his MPs today,” he added.

Asked about how PiS could gain from any actual takeover, Czarnek said it would have to ally with Donald Tusk’s current coalition partners.

“Mr. Editor, first of all, let’s abandon this idea of political gain. The country is crumbling before our eyes. Farmers in Spała today showed Krajewski and the Polish People’s Party what’s happening in agriculture, where wheat is priced below 700 złoty and receives no subsidies. When we were in power, it was 1,400 złoty, and we paid an additional 400 złoty for that ton of wheat. The National Health Fund (NFZ) is short 8 billion złoty (€1.87 billion) for current expenses and the costs of hospitals and healthcare. State-owned companies are generating losses, sometimes enormous ones, such as Bogdanka Lublinska,” explained the former head of the Ministry of National Education.

Czarnek emphasized that there is no time to wait until Poland is “in ruins.”

“Thinking only of political benefits, that it would be nice to wait two years and let them bleed out, is a lack of consideration for the Polish state. The Polish state, devastated at the rate it is today, will be very difficult to rebuild from the ruins in two years, and then what political benefits will we, all Poles, gain from surviving two more years with this government that has bled out? None. Therefore, today there is no time for strictly political thinking. Today is the time for pro-state thinking. And this pro-state thinking means that at any moment we are ready for alliances, even within this Sejm, and the formation of new majority coalitions, in order to remove Tusk and—let’s not be afraid to say it—thieves and bunglers, or people who deliberately work to the detriment of the Polish state. This is the interest of the Polish state and the Polish nation today, which must prevail over mere political interests,” he continued.

The PiS deputy chair ended his interview by underlining that they are committed to ousting Tusk.

“We’re here to take responsibility for the country in a very difficult situation, including geopolitical ones, with a huge threat to national security. This is our number one goal, and we must make every effort to remove Tusk from power,” he said.
