Yesterday, Budapest hosted the largest-ever business forum between Hungary and Israel.
A total of 62 Hungarian and 36 Israeli companies gathered in the Hungarian capital, with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó sending a clear message: the Jewish community in Hungary is safe.
“We in Hungary are proud to guarantee the safest home in all of Europe for the Jewish community living here,” Szijjártó stated.
Against this backdrop, bilateral relations between Hungary and Israel are strong, and deals are being made to the advantage of both countries.
The foreign minister highlighted that economic cooperation between the two countries “has expanded to completely modern economic areas: research and development, technological cooperation, space exploration, and the defense industry,” Szijjártó said, as quoted by Magyar Nemzet.
Flagship projects involving Hungarian companies include Continest Technologies participating in Israeli army tenders, 4iG moving forward in the defense and space industries, and 97 percent of Israel’s poultry imports being provided by Palmi-Top.
Szijjártó also noted that Israeli investors play a very important role in the Hungarian economy.
Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar was also at the event, posting on X: “Always good to be in Budapest with my friend Hungarian @FM_Szijjarto. Hungary has a clear moral dimension in its foreign policy, standing by Israel and calling for accountability for the PA’s Pay-for-Slay policy. I came to Budapest today with the largest-ever economic delegation of Israeli businesses to Hungary. We are eager to even further strengthen the close economic and people-to-people relations between our nations!”

Turning back to the safety of Jews in Hungary, the Hungarian foreign minister highlighted the fact that the Israeli national football team plays all of its home matches in Hungary, without any need to do so behind closed doors and without any police presence, as is seen in Western Europe.
“So I would like to encourage members of the Israeli business community to explore opportunities for cooperation at today’s more than 150 bilateral business-to-business meetings, and you can be sure that you will always be safe here, both you personally and your businesses and your business activities,” he told those gathered.
Taking a jab at Brussels, the Hungarian foreign minister also bemoaned EU politics and its “absolutely biased anti-Israel policy,” which has led to restrictions on trade and other economic dealings with Israel.
“We will always oppose these,” Szijjártó said, promising further cooperation with Hungary as well as dedicated efforts to improve cooperation between Israel and the EU.
