Following Zelensky’s direct threat on Viktor Orbán’s life, the Hungarian prime minister and his entire family have now been threatened by Hryhoriy Omelchenko, a Ukrainian politician, former MP, and former officer of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

In a clip that has now gone viral, Omelchenko states, “He knows that after losing power, prison awaits him, or perhaps something worse… We don’t need Orbán’s address. We know where he lives, where he sleeps at night, where he drinks his wine, and who he meets. If Orbán does not change his anti-Ukrainian position, let him remember that karma never forgives crimes. You can’t run or hide from karma.”

Orbán has since responded to the threat in a Facebook video message in which he is forced to call his family members and warn them. “The Ukrainians are already threatening my family, my children and my grandchildren. Everyone is fine, but there is a limit to everything!” he captioned the video.

“I am calling you so that you hear it from me first. You will probably see in the news that the Ukrainians have threatened us. Not just me now, but you all, too. My kids and grandchildren,” we hear. “I’m just calling to tell you to not be afraid.”

“If you see anything unusual or if there is a problem, let me know. You should take it seriously, but don’t be afraid,” he tells one of his children. “Take care of yourself.”

“This is unusual in our lives, but we will figure out how to adapt to it,” he then tells viewers. “My wife will play a key role in this.”

Amidst this new reality for Orbán’s family, living under threat from a neighboring country, Brussels has decided to hand Zelensky its highest of honors, alongside Angela Merkel and Lech Walesa, a new award recognizing people’s contributions to “respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law.”
