A migrant was awarded German citizenship after stabbing German comedian Nikita Miller five times inside the Bremen central train station in an attack that Miller nearly did not survive, according to a German media interview with Miller.

During the interview with Express newspaper, Miller conveyed disbelief that the migrant who nearly killed him not only received German citizenship but was also released the same night as the bloody stabbing attack.

“He was released that same night and now has German citizenship. The justice system is kind of strange,” said Miller.

The stabbing attack occurred on Nov. 11, 2023, but Miller has opened up about the attack since then, including an interview with German public news outlet SWR.

“Nothing has been done so far. The perpetrator was released the same night with the statement: ‘He no longer poses any danger,'” Miller told SWR.

During the interview, Miller describes the incredible logic deployed by the German justice system, which argued that since Miller did not die, it was not attempted murder. Miller told the court that he only survived because he successfully fought back during the random attack. The suspect’s charge was dropped to the less serious charge of bodily harm.

During the 20-second fight, Miller suffered 5 serious stab wounds, including a head stab wound that was 15 cm (6 inches) long and required 12 stitches.

“It escalated. He pulled out the blade. We’re standing on a narrow staircase, I’m trying to flip him back, throw him down the stairs. When he came to me, I could still kick at him. It was a 20-second fight and he gave up, but he got me with the knife five times in those 20 seconds. He wanted to get to my throat and got me in that area four times…and I was stabbed in the back of the head because I was still crouching,” he said during the Express interview.

The suspect’s nationality has never been released, but now he has German citizenship.

He psychologically dealt with the knife attack through therapy, but could not stand the thought of something happening to his family.

In addition, he also stated that he has left Germany due to the attack, moving from the city of Cologne to Norway, because he said he could not deal with the justice system a second time, especially if something happened to his family.

“I thought, if something happens to my wife or my family and I have to struggle with this justice system again, I won’t survive it a second time. And then I said, ‘We have to move.'”

Since his move, he said he is extremely happy.

“I always wanted to live in Scandinavia. I like this weather, unlike Germany, where it’s way too hot in summer. Twenty-five degrees is my pain threshold. After that, I pull down the roller shutters, eat ice cream, and watch mafia movies until fall begins. And the knife and justice thing accelerated that. Then, my tax statement came, and I asked myself: What am I paying taxes for if the justice system doesn’t ensure justice?” he told Express.

However, Miller is far from the only one who has expressed a desire to leave Germany as of late, with famed Youtuber “Radical Living” telling his 2 million subscribers why he was leaving Germany, which also included concerns over insecurity and mass immigration.

Miller has worked as a stage comedian since 2016 and has won the Cabaret Prize in 2023. He has made appearances on NDR Comedy Contest, “NightWash,” and on Dieter Nuhr’s show.
