The Hungarian Tax and Revenue Office will auction off four luxury cars of tax dodgers who own the state billions of forints in arrears, Finance Minister Mihály Varga said in a post on his Facebook page.
The cars are a Bentley, a Lambroghini Huracán and two Porsches.
“Tax fraudulent criminal organizations are not only harming the budget, but also decent businesses,” Varga wrote. “Soon, a Lamborghini, a Bentley and two Porsches will be under the hammer at the auction of the National Tax and Customs Office, the owners of which have cheated billions of forints in VAT.”
“In recent years, the budget has generated more than 2,000 billion forints (€5.73 billion) in additional revenue through economic whitening measures. Just as revenues from economic whitening, the proceeds from auctions will be used for further tax cuts,” Varga added.
The 602 HP, ten-cylinder Lamborghini Huracán Evo (the green one pictured above), has a sticker price of around $300,000 (€253,000) depending on options, while the average age of Hungarian passenger cars is above 14 years.
