Hungarian FM Szijjártó urges Joe Biden to address Burisma corruption case involving his son

Following slanderous comments made by Joe Biden during a town hall event on Thursday where he classified Hungary and Poland as “totalitarian regimes”, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó urged Biden to properly address the corruption allegations against he and his son before focusing his attention on Hungary.

“It would be great if Joe Biden could tell us why he put pressure on the Ukrainian government to fire its chief prosecutor, and how all of this related to the investigation into his son’s Ukrainian energy deals grinding to a halt,” Szijjártó said in a video response to Biden’s comments.

The Hungarian foreign minister then noted that Biden’s visits to Ukraine took place at the same time that his son held a post on the board of directors of one of the largest Ukrainian energy companies, Burisma Holdings Limited. It was during this period of time that several highly suspicious cases of corruption occurred in the Ukrainian energy sector.

Szijjártó called on Joe Biden to elucidate to the public how he leveraged his political position as vice president of the United States to produce massive profits for his son Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian energy company.

He also urged the former vice president to declare why he had put pressure on the Ukrainian government to fire its acting Attorney General Viktor Shokin who had been investigating his son’s business dealings, and why this move coincided with the complete cessation of investigations into Hunter Biden.

The Hungarian foreign minister was referring to a new bombshell New York Post article — heavily censored by Twitter and Facebook — that revealed emails directly tying Joe Biden to Burisma, which his son Hunter Biden reportedly earned millions working for. While Joe Biden claimed the firing of Shokin was over corruption, Shokin himself claimed that he made “specific plans” to investigate Burisma that “included interrogations and other crime-investigation procedures into all members of the executive board, including Hunter Biden.”

Joe Biden even famously boasted of firing Shokin on video.

In a video statement posted to Facebook, Szijjártó noted that Biden, while he occupied the post of vice president in the Obama administration, had been closely involved with Central European issues, adding that during those eight years the United States had constantly lectured and attacked Central Europe.

“We may still remember the kind of Central European policy the Democrats pursued for eight years; we may still recall the continuous lecturing, accusations and attacks,” Szijjártó said. “We Hungarians experienced this firsthand.”

Szijjártó stated that the Obama-Biden administration constantly lambasted Hungary when it adopted its new constitution. He also referenced occasions when members of the US diplomatic corps during the Obama administration openly participated in anti-government protests in Budapest and published “extraordinarily biased” statements in support of Hungary’s left-liberal parties.

“It wouldn’t be too much of an exaggeration to say that there was a time during his vice-presidency when he visited Ukraine more than he visited the America which lies beyond Washington,” Szijjártó said, in reference to Biden’s corrupt business dealings in the eastern European country.
