“I still believe that an [Brexit] agreement is possible, 95 percent has already been negotiated,” Babiš said following his meeting with May. I’m glad that I had a chance to sit down with the prime minister, especially in a time like this, when we need to finish Brexit talks, hopefully with a positive outcome, he added.
Babiš expressed his hope that there will be a mutually acceptable agreement by the end of November, because everybody is a little bit nervous and it’s in the best interest of all involved to maintain cooperation with the UK.
Babiš highlighted the more than a hundred years of partnership between the UK and the Czech Republic, calling Great Britain an important ally.
The prime ministers also discussed illegal migration, the situation in Syria and recent developments regarding Saudi Arabia. Babiš said they share similar views on migration and a critical stance on the EU draft budget.
On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia, the prime minister took part in the so-called Czech week organized by the Czech Embassy in London, including a concert held by Czech philharmonics. Babiš also gave mention to the last surviving Czech pilot from the Battle of Britain Emil Boček, who turned 95 this year.
