Central Europe’s success with coronavirus crisis is troublesome for the West

Western media is full of praise for Germany and Angela Merkel and how well they are dealing with the coronavirus, and it is true — the country is certainly managing better than the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and Spain.

Yet, Germany’s statistics relating to infections and death rates is much worse than in Central European countries.

Despite this reality, praise for those countries is sparse.

They can only count on peculiar and condescending comments such as those seen in the American media, which claims that Central European governments were aware of their poor health care systems, which is the only reason why they introduced restrictions so quickly.
