A group of Polish construction workers sharing an apartment in Bavaria turned deadly, with 51-year-old Andrzey P. accused of stabbing his roommate to death with 90 knife blows.
According to the indictment, the suspect stabbed the victim during their morning coffee on June 23, 2025. Reportedly, an aggressive atmosphere existed in the apartment in Traunstein, with Andrzey P. known for conflicts with his fellow construction workers.
The defendant, who had a previous criminal record in Poland, is being tried for murder in Traunstein Regional Court, where he faces life in prison. Andrzey P. has argued that the incident was an “accident,” that he suffers from schizophrenia, and that he hears voices.
The incident started early in the morning, when the four roommates were on the balcony drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. Andrzey P. went to the kitchen and came back with a knife with a 9-centimeter blade. Artur B. was seated when Andrzey P. returned and began repeatedly stabbing him on his neck, shoulder and chest until the man bled out after crawling into the bathroom, according to Bild newspaper.
In court, Andrzey P. claimed that the man had provoked him, claiming “that I had impregnated his daughter and should now pay 40,000 zloty in alimony.”
One witness, Jacek S., said the perpetrator was “in a trance.” As a result, he panicked and fled from the bloody scene. Meanwhile, the other roommate, Piotr P., attempted to intervene but was kicked in the stomach by the perpetrator.
Police arrived quickly at the apartment and reportedly found Andrzey P. still holding the knife.
“The blood was still dripping down,” one officer testified in court.
The defendant already served a year in prison in Poland for tax fraud, with Piotr P. testifying, “He said he was already in prison and wasn’t afraid of jail.”
Despite his schizophrenia argument in court, a psychiatric expert said he was not addicted to alcohol or had any diminished responsibility.
