A 14-year-old German girl was kicked and spat on by an 18-year-old Iranian migrant last week on Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m. on Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse in Düsseldorf, according to police.
The Iranian man tried to speak to German girl and her 16-year-old friend, but when both signaled they wanted him to leave them alone, the man responded by kicking the 14-year-old in her buttocks, spitting on her leg, and fleeing the scene.
In order to file a criminal complaint against the suspect, the two young women went to the federal police station at Düsseldorf Central Train Station. They described the suspect in great detail so that he could be identified at 11.40 p.m. in Düsseldorf Central Station after police were called to a supermarket over a reported theft.
Police said that at the supermarket, the perpetrator behaved very aggressively towards an employee when he was confronted with the theft.
Based on the description provided by the 16-year-old victim, the attacker was identified by federal police officers in Düsseldorf Central Station as also being involved in the attack against the girl.
After the Iranian man was arrested, he was released and criminal proceedings were initiated for theft and assault. The two girls were picked up by their parents at the federal police station. The 14-year-old was not injured.
