More Russians are now living in the Czech Republic

A week before the 50th anniversary of the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia, the Ministry of Interior released data about the Russian population living in the Czech Republic.

The number of Russians in the Czech Republic keeps increasing, there are currently 37,000 Russians permanently living in the country, compared to 23,300 ten years ago.

According to a survey carried out by CVVM agency, around one third of Czechs said they disliked Russians, while two fifths perceive them positively.

Russians are currently the fourth biggest group of foreigners in the Czech Republic, making up seven percent of all foreign residents. According to statistics, three out of ten Russians are in the Czech Republic for work and business and nearly two-fifths are studying here.
