Hungarian President Katalin Novák met with her Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro on Monday at the Palácio do Planalto in her first presidential visit to Brazil.
According to Novák, the pair discussed the ongoing “fruitful” relationship between the two nations, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine as well as how to best protect traditional family values against the tide of liberalism across the globe.
“President Katalin Novák of Hungary made an official visit to Brazil today. She was welcomed by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, with whom she discussed the strong relations between both nations, built on the common ground of shared values,” a statement from the Brazilian government read.
In her own communication, Novák revealed that both herself and Bolsonaro advocate for peace in Ukraine.
“We agreed that in the war we need peace as soon as possible, and both Hungary and Brazil will offer the role of representing this advocacy and intermediation,” she said.
“Brazil is our strategic partner, and our bilateral relations are constantly getting stronger,” Novák added.
