OTP, Hungary’s largest commercial bank whose customers are regularly targeted by hackers, has issued a fresh phishing alert. The fake e-mail written in poor Hungarian pretending to come from the bank says that in order to avoid blocking online access to their account, customers should log in and confirm their user name and password, but the provided link takes them to a hacker site. In the Hungarian message – seemingly of machine translation – the word “avoid” remains in the original English.
OTP, with 38,000 employees in nine regional countries, last year posted a net profit of HUF 281.4 billion ($1.02 bln).
