The Remix editorial team consists of seasoned, multi-language professional journalists from Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). They have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of their own countries’ political, economic and cultural scene, up-to-date perspective on domestic and foreign current affairs and are thus well-equipped to select the most pertinent news and commentaries for those interested in the region, writes Origo.
Origo turned to Grzegorz Adamczyk and Dénes Albert who cover Poland and Hungary respectively.
Adamczyk, whose previous media experience includes working at the Polish language section of the BBC World Service said
Remix is a unique initiative that could serve as reference to the European target audience regarding news of Visegrád cooperation.
Until now, Central Europe did not have a news portal conveying events and comments about the region from a conservative perspective. Thus, the main mission of the portal is to serve up the region’s conservative views from the larger Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovak perspectives.
Dénes Albert, covering Hungary – previously with the BCC, Reuters and Hungarian national news agency MTI – said Remix also aimed to debunk negative stereotypes regarding Central Europe vehiculated by many international news outlets by
providing authoritative and professional information about the region.
The portal is published in English in order to reach the widest possible audience. Another goal of Remix is to present the seven-hundred-years cooperation of the Visegrád Four countries from a fresh, common perspective.
“Remix will focus on presenting and aggregating the political and economic events and leading comments of the Visegrád countries and provide a regional perspective on topical European issues such as migration,” he said.
The Slovak section is led by politologist Géza Tokár, a Slovak national of Hungarian ethnicity, previously with “Új Szó”, Slovakia’s only nationwide Hungarian language newspaper.
“The perspective goal of Remix is to be considered as a reference point for regional news in general and V4 news in particular.”
