Below is a translation of the full text of the letter:
“With sorrow and distress we accept yet another attempt of abuse of community powers against Hungary by European institutions. A democratic and sovereign nation is being attacked because it democratically chose its government against the will of those who consider themselves the owners of Europe. Because that country defends its freedom and traditions. Because that country protects its borders. Because that country wants to break away from its totalitarian communist heritage.
We all have the right to oppose attempts at imposing a Leftist interpretation of European values and removing them from their Christian roots
What is more important is that we know from our own experience how unjust, shallow and heavily politicized are the judgments of EU institutions.
That is why in these days we send our expressions of support and sympathy to our brotherly nation of Hungary. Hungarians, Poles and every other European nation have the right to democratically organize their Fatherland, to independently shape those areas of politics that European treaties leave to nation states. We all also have the right to oppose attempts at imposing a Leftist interpretation of European values and removing them from their Christian roots.
We are ashamed that Polish post-communist, liberal and leftist politicians, including MEPs are taking part in this smear campaign against Hungary. Unfortunately, their actions refer to the worst models, currently enslaved to outside courts and empires. They are also breaking the sacred Polish-Hungarian friendship. We apologize for their actions.”
