Three teenagers were sexually assaulted by a group of adult males as they left a kebab shop in the French city of Nantes on Saturday evening, not far from where two other underage girls were groped in a shopping center earlier on the same day, according to the Ouest-France news outlet.
Local media reported how three friends, all aged 15, had gone to the kebab shop in the city center late on Saturday evening. As they got up to leave at around midnight, the girls were confronted by a group of “about 10 men who began to surround and bother them.”
A police source confirmed to the news outlet that the girls were sexually assaulted by members of the group, all of whom were adult males.
“These men touched them on the buttocks, chest, and private parts,” the police source stated.
The group fled when eyewitnesses raised the alarm, and two staff members of Tan, the operator of Nantes’ public transport network, then took care of the girls who were frightened and in shock.
Police were swiftly dispatched to the scene, and the victims’ parents were called.
Authorities were able to identify one member of the group, an 18-year-old male with no fixed address, who was arrested and remanded in custody pending a court hearing.
The other members of the group remain at large.
Earlier that day, the same news portal had reported that two minors, aged 13 and 15, had been shopping with their mother at the Leclerc Océane-Rezé center at approximately 7 p.m. when they were accosted by an adult male.
“They were slapped on their buttocks while they were out with their mother,” one source told the site, explaining how the shopping center’s security guards were quickly alerted, and the man was caught and arrested.
No further information about the suspect in this incident has been revealed.
