Hungarian diplomats must concentrate their efforts on three of the key topics that will define the European agenda in the coming years: migration, climate and gender policy. according to Justice Minister Judit Varga, who remarked on the issue while speaking at the annual conference of Hungarian ambassadors on Thursday.

“The European landscape in the future will be determined by three major issues: migration, climate policy and gender,” Varga said.

“During the day, I was once again convinced that our diplomats are representing Hungary at the highest professional level abroad,” Varga wrote in a Facebook post. “However, this would have been impossible without continuous and detailed information, so the heads of Hungary’s diplomatic missions this week will shed light on issues related to the Ministry of Justice, with a special focus on European events.”

She said the ambassadors’ meeting featured discussions on the conference on the future of Europe, including the role of external delegations in the pan-European dialogue.

“In my presentation, I also addressed issues that affect the whole of the European Union, such as migration and its future development, or even the concerns of European climate policy,” Varga said.

“It is no secret that professional success can only be achieved in a team, so we, as policymakers, have a particularly great responsibility to ensure that our diplomats are well prepared to return to their posts. Because let’s not have any doubts, as the elections approach, the attacks on our country will increase,” she said.

With the exception of a few photo ops and the opening remarks of the ambassadors’ conference is customarily held behind closed doors every year in Budapest over several days during the summer diplomatic recess.
