A Bengali migrant has been arrested by Italian authorities after reportedly attacking his heavily pregnant employer with a pair of scissors while insisting he does not take orders from women, according to local reports.
The incident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday in the Appio-Latino district of Rome, when the 23-year-old suspect known as Mohammed took offense at being asked by his female boss to fulfill an order from a customer at a laundry facility. Eyewitnesses state they heard the assailant shout “in my country, we don’t take orders from women” before launching himself at the 38-year-old pregnant woman, holding a pair of scissors like a dagger.
According to Il Giornale, “inhuman screams” came from the launderette as nearby shopkeepers close to the incident ran out into the street. A number of onlookers called the authorities which arrived shortly after.

The victim successfully defended herself from serious wounding, reportedly parrying the first lunge with her hand before trying to disarm her assailant, who was eventually tackled to the ground by the owner’s husband and dragged away from the woman.
The Bengali migrant fled the scene but was eventually identified shortly after a few kilometers away from the incident in Piazza Cantù. He was swiftly apprehended by authorities and held in custody before being charged with aggravated injury. He is now awaiting trial.
His pregnant victim was treated by medical staff at the scene and transferred to hospital as a precaution. After checking on her condition and that of her baby, the 38-year-old was discharged.
