  • Twain’s Huckleberry Finn censored

This isn’t the first time that Mark Twain’s books and columns are being censored, as during his life he had been a typical Southerner who was sceptical about American unity. He considered it to be forced by the federal government in Washington. He wasn’t shy to hide his aversion to US imperial policies and was a staunch opponent of Theodore Roosevelt.

Twain understood that some of his views would not be understood by his contemporaries, which is why he ordered his autobiography – a 5,000 page manuscript – to be published 100 years after his death. He feared that it would be harshly censored by “progressives” from Washington in the early 20thcentury.

Even he couldn’t foresee what would become of an America shackled by political correctness in the 21th century.

The word “nigger” cannot be exchanged for “slave”, because it has a completely different semantic meaning

What would he say if he learned that after his death, some haunted corrector of the world would dare to censor one of his best works? Twain mercilessly shows the simplicity, xenophobia and racism, but also the good, helpfulness and the diligence and sense of freedom of the Southerners. The dialogue in the book is not pretty, it is authentic with all its bloodiness and vulgarity.

The word “nigger” cannot be exchanged for “slave”, because it has a completely different semantic meaning. That is why it is at the very top of the pyramid of banned phrases. Even saying the word, without using the euphemism “N-word” is regarded as racist.

Americans feel that they have been called to defend freedom of speech and freedom of press throughout the world. This is very commendable. Which is why they should give an example, that history, literature and art shouldn’t be censored under any circumstances.

  • Disturbing act at concert against racism

At least one song at the recent ‘Concert against racism’ in Chemnitz had extremely controversial content. Some of the lyrics of a song titled ‘Ein Affe und ein Pferd’ by German hip-hop group K.I.Z., which has been formed mainly by children of immigrants, are ‘I’ll make mousse of your gob. I’ll ram a knife into journalist’s gob. Kick your woman to her belly and eat the aborted fetus.’

And tens of thousands of mostly young people sang along. Could you imagine the same situation, only replace ‘woman’ with ‘Jewish girl’ and use ‘Muslim’ instead of ‘journalist’?

Considering how many politicians including Chancellor Merkel condemned the protesters in Chemnitz, it is striking that many are keeping quiet regarding the hateful performance. Even the sole fact that an act like this hasn’t really been publicly shamed, if compared to a reaction to Chemnitz protests, shows us that a tolerance for left-wing radicalism is much higher than for a criticism of immigration and Islam.

K.I.Z. wasn’t the only controversial band at the anti-racism concert. According to Spiegel, a band called Freine Sahne Fischfilet had been investigated for hate speech crimes and violence back in 2012.

  • The sexist meme and the changing face of Sweden

The Swedish Democrats’ parade wasn’t just backed by an influx of immigrants but also by a worsening security in the country. Despite the Swedish population being constantly reminded that Sweden Democrats are gross, they didn’t come out of the elections weaker. Now the Swedish structures are changing, and the first swallow is here to prove it.

The Swedish advertising standards council banned a ‘distracted boyfriend’ meme. This picture originally from a photobank is already a cult and one of the best memes of 2017, however it’s also sexist. At least according to Reklamombudsmannen.

Swedish internet provider Bahnhof used the ‘distracted boyfriend’ to advertise that the company is hiring and its jobs are tempting. 15 people complained about it to the council and it proved them right, because ‘the lady in red is presented as a sex object by the man’s appreciative reaction’.

Reklamombudsmannen has no actual power in Sweden, therefore the ad wasn’t cancelled, and the company wasn’t fined. However, the finding is resonating as an experiment trying to implement Bolshevik idiocracy in a free speech environment.

Such an urge to use power is foolish and suicidal. It couldn’t happen in today’s Russia or China, unless the meme targeted the very base of its political power. The regimes there know it is necessary to control public opinion strategically and selectively. Apart from that, the public has to feel free to be obedient, more so in an era of information revolution.

So how long will it take for ideologists to become completely insane – before they discredit themselves and sadly also the liberal-order institutions they’ve colonized?
