An Eritrean asylum seeker has been arrested after beating two women with a metal pole in Horb am Neckar, according to the public prosecutor’s office.

The 27-year-old migrant is said to have severely injured one of the woman and is now facing charges in the Rottweil District Court. The man was previously already wanted by police for an arrest warrant.

Early Monday morning, at the market square in the city, the man became involved in an argument with a 41-year-old woman and her 31-year-old friend. He then took a metal pole that was being used as a barrier and began beating the women.

The man beat the 41-year-old so severely that her life was briefly in danger, but a police spokesperson told SWR that she is now “stable and alert.”

After the attack, the man fled and was arrested the next day.

Police arrest an Eritrean man one day after the attack. The details of the exact reason why the man attacked the women are still being investigated.

The man appears to have been allowed to enter Germany during the 2015 migrant wave. He also has a work history in the country.
