Poland has decided to transfer equipment and supplies, including weapons and ammunition, as well as helmets, tactical vests, and protective kits, to the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to Poland’s Internal Affairs Minister Mariusz Kamiński.
Poland’s assistance is aimed at bolstering the security of Moldova and “supporting its pro-European government in Chisinau by ensuring a high level of public safety,” said the minister.
“Independent and sovereign Moldova, resisting attempts of internal destabilization, needs Polish support,” added Kamiński.
To address this, the Polish internal affairs minister has arranged to transport weapons, ammunition, and equipment from Poland’s law enforcement agencies to be provided to the Moldovan police, utilizing two Hercules transport aircraft and 4 CASA planes.
Poland has been actively engaged in aiding Moldova’s independence efforts for an extended period. In early May, joint exercises involving police counterterrorism units from both countries were conducted in Chisinau.
As a symbolic conclusion to these activities, special forces officers from Poland and Moldova flew over the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau in a Polish Black Hawk helicopter, displaying the Moldovan and European Union flags.
This event, which coincided with Europe Day celebrations in Moldova on May 9, showcased Poland’s unwavering support for Moldova’s pursuit of complete independence from Russia.
Additionally, in support of Moldova’s pro-European government, Poland’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has imposed sanctions on Ilan Shor, the leader of the pro-Russian Shor Party (formerly the Social-Political Equality Movement). Shor is currently wanted in Moldova for orchestrating pro-Russian street demonstrations that have contributed to the country’s destabilization.
