Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán arrived to Bled, Slovenia, on Sunday afternoon to attend the strategic forum entitled “Challenges and Opportunities in the Post-COVID–19 World”, Bertalan Havas, the prime minister’s press secretary told national news agency MTI.
This year, besides the host, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, the forum is also attended in-person by the heads of state of Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia as well as by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and International Monetary Fund Director Kristalina Georgieva, also from Bulgaria, over a video link.
Havasi also said that Orbán will have bilateral meetings with his Czech, Slovak and Slovenian counterparts and the leaders of the Hungarian ethnic minority in Slovenia.
The Bled Strategic Forum of regional leaders from the Balkans and Central Europe was established by Slovenia in 2006, two years after the country joined the European Union in 2004 and has been held every year since at the last days of August or the first days of September.
Its main goal is for regional leaders to share and as much as possible coordinate their strategic initiatives on economy, environmental protection, neighborhood and regional policies and other global issues.
