Hungary has completed the concept for hosting the 2021 World Hunting and Nature Expo, government commissioner of the event Zoltán Kovács said, adding that actual work on the locations will begin this year.
The year 2021 for hosting the event is also an excellent match because it is the 50th anniversary of Budapest hosting the Expo 1971, a hunting-themed expo with the participation of 52 countries which at the time attracted 1.9 million visitors.
That expo was also notable because – only three years after the Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia – it was attended by both Soviet Secretary General Leonid Brezhnev and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The Hungarian budget will provide HUF 7 billion (US$24.95 million) for the initial preparations while the final budget must be submitted to the cabinet in the first half of the year.
