Polish producers of disinfectant products are raising concerns that they do not have the needed ethanol to keep production going.
The lack of ethanol product with 95 percent purity means that producers are unable to meet the tremendous demand for disinfectant products as coronavirus spreads in Europe. They claim that they could be producing substantially more than they currently are if more ethanol were available.
This production shortage could soon affect Polish hospitals, with demand from hospitals for disinfectants having risen 30 to 50 fold in recent weeks.
The largest Polish producer claims that its modern plant could produce six or seven times the present output but the supply of ethanol is actually falling as suppliers from EU states cannot keep up with demand.
