The population of the Czech Republic increased due to foreign migration, the balance of which amounted to 17,700 inhabitants. Year-on-year, both the number of immigrants and emigrants increased. A total of 29,200 people migrated to the Czech Republic, which is 7,800 more than the year before.
On the contrary, 11,500 inhabitants moved out of the Czech Republic abroad, 2,600 more than in the first half of 2017. The largest number of immigrants and emigrants were the citizens of Ukraine, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria.
