‘Poles are not afraid of migrants,’ claims Polish Left Party minister

The Left Party minister says the Polish right makes "claims" about migrants committing rapes and murders to scare Poles, but data from the rest of Europe shows that surging crime is the reality for pro-migration countries like Germany, France and Sweden

A Left Party politician, MP Marcin Kulasek, claimed that Poles are not actually afraid of migrants and that any opposition to mass immigration is just the Law and Justice party (PiS) and Confederation using migrants as “fuel” to inflame emotions.

Kulasek, who is the secretary general of the New Left and deputy minister of education, made his comments during an appearance on Radio ZET, in response to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk being forced to temporarily close the border. Tusk is under pressure over German police bringing immigrants from Africa into Poland. A potential crisis developed when Poles began organizing citizen patrols on the border.

Meanwhile, the Confederation party and PiS demanded that the authorities immediately stop allowing foreigners from culturally alien countries into Polish territory.

Despite these citizens’ patrols and consistent polling that shows Poles do not want non-EU migrants, Kulasek said he believes that Poles are actually welcoming to foreigners.

“I believe that the more often society speaks out and gives clear information about what it wants, the better. When it comes to PiS, there is one rule: playing on emotions, dividing Poles, scaring with migrants, but the reality is completely different,” he said.

He then added: “Poles are not afraid of migrants.”

He said it was mostly fearmongering, saying PiS and Confederation claim “they will come, they will kill, steal, rape and do various things.”

The topic of Germany pushing back migrants into Poland, or simply dumping them on Polish territory, became a major topic within Poland’s mainstream media. PiS is now calling for a referendum on the topic of immigrants, arguing that polls clearly show that Poles did not agree to migration from African and Muslim countries.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday that Poland would be reintroducing temporary border controls with Germany and Lithuania from July 7. Meanwhile, PiS is back with the idea of organizing a referendum on immigrants, as polls clearly indicate that Poles reject mass migration of Africans and Muslims, argues PiS.

However, Kulasek believes the referendum should indeed take place.

“Maybe if this referendum were held and Poles expressed their views unequivocally, PiS and Confederation would finally run out of fuel to scare Poles,” said Kulasek.

However, it must be noted that Kulasek is factually incorrect in his claim that is pure scaremongering and manipulating of emotions. Data from Western European countries shows a direct correlation between increasing migration from the Middle East and Africa and exploding sexual violence. In Germany, foreigners commit 59 percent of all sexual violence in train stations and public transport. They commit half of all gang rapes in Germany and for over 40 percent of all murders.

In France, they commit 69 percent of all violent crimes and sexual assaults in public transport. Emmanuel Macron himself said foreigners commit half of all crimes in Paris. Many of the French citizens committing crimes who are not counted as foreigners also have a foreign migration background in their family. In Sweden, migrants are responsible for a huge majority of the violent and sexual crimes, including committing three out of four of all murders.

This all comes despite foreigners making up a small minority in all of these countries, including 15 percent of the German population, for instance.

In short, Poles have seen what happened in other countries, including public markets turning into tightly-controlled zones that require counter-terrorism police and car barriers out of fear of terror attacks.

The Left Party minister argues that more than half of those being taken back from Germany are actually Ukrainians, and the numbers indicate that a total of just 3,000 per year are being taken back overall.
