Polish Radio will start broadcasting for Belarus

The management of Polskie Radio S.A. (Polish Radio) has decided to modify its current schedule and will introduce special information programs in Belarusian on its First Program. The new information services will be dedicated to informing Belarusians about the current situation in Belarus.

Polish Radio told the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that owing to the station’s transmitters in Central Poland, the First Program of the Polish Radio has coverage on long-waves of a 225 kHz frequency across almost all of Europe and that includes the entire territory of Belarus.

Special news broadcasts will be prepared by the Belarusian Section of the International Polish Radio board, and will be transmitted three times a day: at 6:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Polish Radio has stated that owing to these broadcasts, every Belarusian citizen, including those living in areas without access to the internet or where i could be restricted, will have easy access to information about their country, as well as international events associated with Belarus.

The CEO of Polish Radio, Agnieszka Kamińska, emphasized that support for the Belarusian nation in these tough times and showing solidarity with their struggle is written into fulfilling the mission of a public media, such as Polish Radio.

“Only strong and well-organized public media with the right technical infrastructure and journalistic staff are able to fulfill such a needed and important initiative,” she said and added that helping Belarusian society is an honor.

The first news broadcasts for the Belarusian market will start on Aug. 22, 2020.
