According to the official site of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest, the plane carrying Pope Francis will arrive at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport shortly before 8 a.m. on September 12.
After the official greetings, the Holy Father will meet with President János Áder, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Hungarian bishops at the Museum of Fine Arts.
Pope Francis will then receive representatives of the Ecumenical Council of the Churches of Hungary and the Jewish communities.
The closing Mass of the International Eucharistic Congress will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Heroes’ Square, which will be celebrated by Pope Francis.
The Holy Father continues to Bratislava in the afternoon. During his three-day visit to Slovakia, he will meet with church and secular leaders, members of the Roma and Jewish communities. Pope Francis visits Košice, Prešov and holds Mass on September 15 at the Pauline Shrine in Šaštín.
This is the second International Eucharistic Congress hosted by Hungary, after the 34th congress held between May 25-29 in Budapest and the closing mass of which was attended by some 100,000 people.
It is also for the first time in 21 years that a pope will attend the Congress.
