The saying that only a fool knows no fear is correct, but what if fear becomes the most important social emotion that guides our behaviors, defines our identity and decides our views of the modern and future world? What if fear becomes the primary meaning of human life?
I am wondering whether we are witness to the apogee of a phenomenon of all-encompassing, empty fear in the world of the West, which will lead to a breakthrough in our civilization.
In the 1990s, Hungarian-born British sociologist Frank Furedi, as one of the first to do so, introduced the concept of the culture of fear in describing the prevalent image of man and the world in the West.
