There is no other country’s MEPs who are so willing to inform on and condemn their own country as Polish opposition MEPs do, who vote for every single European resolution that criticizes Poland.
This is not the norm among the 27 national delegations to the European Parliament. They are not only acting against the government but against the Polish state.
It is understandable that MEPs from other countries should wish to weaken Poland in pursuit of their own countries’ interests. Defense of democracy and the rule of law are just convenient pretexts and ideological camouflage for their true motives.
Sophie in’t Veld from the Dutch Democracy ‘66 and Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar, the chair of LIBE, both do it for ideological reasons, but they too seek to weaken Poland to serve the interests of their own countries.
