What the European Commission is saying in connection with the postponement of the approval of the Hungarian recovery and resilience fund (RRF) is a lie, Hungarian Fidesz MEP Tamás Deutsch said on Wednesday in a plenary session of the European Parliament.

“It is not true that there is a professional dispute between the Commission and the Hungarian government and therefore that is the reason why the signing of the agreement would be delayed,” Deutsch, head of the Fidesz faction in the European Parliament, emphasized.

“A full agreement was reached between the Commission and the Hungarian government months ago on all the details of the Hungarian plan. As a result of the agreement, the visit of the President of the Commission to Budapest to sign the agreement has already been organized,” Deutsch added.

“After the agreement on the Hungarian plan, the political hysteria surrounding the Child Protection Act began. It is only because of ideological and political attacks on the Child Protection Act that the Commission has set the handbrake and is abusing its power by withholding recovery funds,” he pointed out.

“So what the European Commission is saying is a complete lie, and it is open blackmail, complete political banditry,” warned Tamás Deutsch.
