Tusk should start "repolonization with himself"

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the “repolonization of the economy,” and conservative politician Karol Nawrocki has replied.

Tusk’s words came at the European Forum for New Ideas (EFNI), where he announced the reconstruction of the Polish economy, writes Do Rzeczy

“If we want to achieve economic success, build a secure state, we must tell ourselves and others loudly and clearly that Poland will not be a naive partner in this increasingly ruthless competition of egoists on world markets and war fronts, that Polish companies will not be at a disadvantage in competition with international giants,” he told those present.

Karol Nawrocki, president of the Institute of National Remembrance and Law and Justice (PiS) presidential candidate, told Tusk to start “repolonization with himself.”

“Poland first! Always, not just before the elections. Stop withholding CPK, nuclear energy, end the “Green Deal” and the migration pact. Lower VAT on food,” Nawrocki wrote on his account on the X platform.

Law and Justice MPs are raising the alarm that the government has not allocated any funds for the development of the Szczecin-Świnoujście port. While over PLN 200 million (€46.5 million) will go to the development of ports in the Tri-City, and a Chinese operator also received funding, the ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście did not receive a single złoty.

Opposition MPs suggest that the decision by the Szczecin-Świnoujście port authority not to apply for funds under the Centre for EU Transport Projects (CUPT) could have been due to political pressure or a flawed strategy of the government.

PiS MEP Beata Szydło also came out against Tusk’s statement, saying he stole his whole idea from PiS. “Let me remind you that the PiS government implemented exactly such an economic policy, we focused on the development of Polish industry, the implementation of ambitious proposals. Words count, not actions, and Tusk did not prove it with actions. When he was prime minister for the first time, he did not strengthen the Polish economy,” she told Radio Plus.

Poland will be holding the first round of its presidential election on May 18.
