The biggest question concerning one of Netflix’s biggest upcoming productions has been answered – who will play Geralt of Rivia? Henry Cavill. He is best known for his role as Superman in the DC Comic Book movie adaptations.
At first, people did not bet on Cavill. His only connection with the TV series was a statement in an interview in which he claimed that he would love to play Geralt.
Then, the Polish Netflix twitter account confirmed the actor for the role citing a phrase from the novel “The Last Wish” by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich also confirmed Cavill as Geralt. As it turns out, he had already been chosen four months ago. Hissrich complimented the actor’s passion for the role on twitter: “I’ve never forgotten the passion that he brought. He IS Geralt. He has always been.”

In early August Cavill told IGN (online video game news station), that he was delighted with Polish CD Projekt Red’s video game “The Witcher 3”. When asked what games he was currently playing, the actor replied: “the Witcher 3. I just finished beating it again. I love this game.”
In the same interview he claimed to consider playing Geralt as “an amazing role”. This is not all, as the actor also reached for Andrzej Sapkowski’s bestselling fantasy series “the Witcher”. Both the TV series and video games are based on the novels. Cavill called the books “incredible”. Just his familiarity with the source material is enough to earn him trust and credibility.
Netflix’s “The Witcher” is slated for 2020 and will run eight episodes in its first season.
