The research fellow of Oxford Institute for Energy Studies pointed out that Germany is unable to fulfill its CO2 emission quota and despite its irregularities the European Union should deal with the issue similarly as in the case of other countries – like Greece and its budget deficit.
Bros is skeptical about Nord Stream, believing the proposed gas pipe between Germany and Russia will not be built according to the plans if it depends on the European Commission.
“How is it possible that the Commission stopped the South Stream project and will ignore Nord Stream 2, which is completely identical?,” asked the expert.
Bros also added that “unbundling”, the differentiation between the provider of gas and the transporter thwarted the southern gas project and Brussels is doing everything to stop the northern project based on the same principles. This similarity creates confusion among other states, like Italy and the Visegrad Four.
