The Spanish National Police in Zaragoza has announced the arrests of three men in connection with a gang rape reported by a woman in September.

According to the victim, she was attacked and abandoned half-naked in a storage room in an apartment building. The case has gained widespread attention, with police stating that the assault took place off Río Ara Street where the woman was later found unconscious by patrolling officers.

Initial responders provided medical attention, and she was transferred to Miguel Servet Hospital, where protocols for sexual assault cases were activated.

The woman, who had sought temporary shelter at a municipal housing facility in Zaragoza, identified one of her alleged attackers among the shelter’s residents several weeks after the incident, as reported by Heraldo. Her recognition of the individual accelerated the police investigation, eventually leading to the arrest of three men suspected in the attack.

Police have withheld further details about the suspects and the case, citing the ongoing judicial investigation.

At the time of the assault, the woman informed investigators that she had been out visiting bars in Zaragoza. However, she has no clear memory of how she was transported to the storage room where she was assaulted. Upon awakening, she reportedly found herself surrounded by three men who proceeded to harass, grope, and ultimately rape her.

The woman had previously reported experiencing ongoing harassment from several individuals of Arab origin at the shelter and had ultimately decided to leave the facility.

The Aragon Police Headquarters has confirmed that the case is now under the jurisdiction of Investigative Court Number 2 in Zaragoza, which is handling the judicial proceedings.

Further investigative work by the Family and Women’s Unit of the National Police is ongoing.
