Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has announced that the Hungarian government will assist ethnic Hungarians being forced to the frontlines in Ukraine. Zelensky’s forced conscription has long been a subject of controversy since Russia invaded. Now, Orbán is announcing that there will be consequences for any Ukrainian participating in forced conscription, at least if they step foot on Hungarian terriotory.

In a video message shared on Facebook, Viktor Orbán said that the government meeting reviewed developments related to the war because “a few days ago, another Hungarian compatriot fell victim to the forced conscription of the Ukrainian authorities.”

According to Orbán, they have contacted the affected Transcarpathian family and will provide them with all assistance needed.

“But beyond that, the government decided at today’s meeting that we will immediately expel the persons participating in the forced conscription, Ukrainian persons, from the territory of Hungary,” said Orbán.

On X, along with a video message, the Hungarian prime minister posted: “Dragged off to war, another Hungarian has died due to Ukraine’s forced conscription. This is unacceptable. We stand with the family, and we will not let this slide. All Ukrainian officials responsible for forced conscription will be expelled from Hungary without delay. Our people cannot be used as cannon fodder.”
