An IBRiS survey, commissioned by “Rzeczpospolita,” asked the question: “Should Polish soldiers take part in the conflict in the Middle East if the United States asks us to do so?”

Nearly 85 percent (84.7) of respondents expressed opposition to such a decision, with 61.4 percent indicating “definitely not” and 23.3 percent indicating “probably not.”

Only 11 percent of respondents supported sending Polish soldiers to war, with 1.5 percent answering “definitely yes” and 9.5 percent answering “rather yes.” Another 4.4 percent expressed no opinion on the matter.

“Among the group of supporters of the government coalition, as many as 89 percent oppose such a possibility, and among opposition voters (PiS, Razem, Konfederacja) even slightly more – 92 percent, and among Grzegorz Braun’s Confederation of the Polish Crown – 93 percent,” the daily reads, as cited by Do Rzeczy.

U.S. President Trump has failed to rally military support from Europe to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while, as to sending American troops, he has so far indicated this would not happen, although there have been mixed signals, especially as the operation to reopen Hormuz escalates.

“If I were, I certainly wouldn’t tell you, but I’m not sending troops,” Time quoted Trump as saying.

At the same time, yesterday, several European nations and Japan produced a joint statement saying they would take steps to stabilize energy markets and “readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the [Hormuz] Strait.”

Whether these countries will now send military support is unclear, however, polling has shown opposition to the war from the European public. Nevertheless, European and Asian governments are under extreme pressure to stabilize energy markets.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, quoted by Reuters, has told press that “factories producing components for the production of ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons that Iran is trying to produce” are currently being destroyed.

He noted that Israeli-American forces are “winning” the war in the Middle East, and Iran is “being decimated.” Netanyahu pointed out that after 20 days of conducting airstrikes, Tehran “no longer has the capacity to enrich uranium or produce ballistic missiles.” However, he provided no evidence to support this claim.
