Ahead of today’s parliamentary election in Hungary, U.S. President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to express his excitement “to invest in the future prosperity that will be generated by Orbán’s continued leadership.”

“My Administration stands ready to use the full economic might of the United States to strengthen Hungary’s economy, as we have done for our great allies in the past, if Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Hungarian people ever need it,” Trump wrote.

Yesterday, Hungarian FM Péter Szijjártó pointed out the “unique importance” of this offer for all Hungarians.

“”In today’s conditions, when we live in extremely complex international relations, this is uniquely important support, given that in today’s world order, only a country can be successful and secure that can be on good terms with the four world power political centers at the same time, and one of these is the world’s number one superpower, the United States,” read his statement to MTI, as quoted by Origo.

“This stance, even on behalf of the Prime Minister, clearly shows how strong, loyalty-based friendship there is between Donald Trump and Viktor Orbán , and this is a friendship from which every Hungarian person, every Hungarian family benefits. If the Prime Minister were not on such good terms with Donald Trump, we would have been unable to buy cheap energy long ago, we would have had to pay three times as much for utilities long ago, and there would have been no protected gasoline prices long ago,” it continued.

Szijjártó added that the stakes of the election are greater than ever and the future of Hungary cannot be left to “greenhorns,” referring to opposition leader Péter Magyar, “because people like that get eaten for breakfast.”

At his last rally of the campaign, PM Orbán noted the importance of the renewed friendship between Hungary and the United States, saying: “It’s important because the U.S. is the most powerful country in the world today, accounting for more than 70% of NATO’s military power, and if you have a friend like that, your security is guaranteed.”

Orbán also pointed to the importance of shared values between the two countries, namely, “family, nation, and peace,” and that America today is “fighting the same battles” as Hungary in its effort to preserve the West against immigration, war and societal decline. The prime minister highlighted that the West is not just what Brussels dictates, and America today stands with Hungary.
