Authorities in Germany have arrested a 29-year-old Afghan national in connection with a brutal knife attack on a 19-year-old woman in Hamburg.

According to local reports, the attack took place on Thursday morning as a woman waited at a bus stop in Kandinskyallee in the Billstedt district of Hamburg.

The victim was about to get on the bus when the perpetrator attacked her with a knife.

“He rammed the knife right into her head,” one eyewitness told the Bild newspaper.

A response unit took the woman to a hospital where she was treated for life-threatening injuries.

Officials immediately launched a large-scale investigation and quickly identified the 29-year-old suspect.

Police seized evidence during a house search in the Tonndorf district of Hamburg, and at around 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, the suspect was arrested at a vocational school in the Ottensen district.

The motive for the crime is still unclear, although various newspaper reports suggest the victim knew her attacker.

Afghan migrants have been involved with a wide range of stabbing attacks in Germany in recent years, including one man who stabbed a female gardener in Berlin because he believed women should not be “working.”

In 2021, an Afghan man stabbed three people at random at a German train station in Dresden while screaming “Allahu Akbar.”

As Remix News has previously reported, Afghan migrants commit crimes at extremely high rates in Germany and have for the most part failed to successfully integrate into the country’s culture and job market.
