Austrian COVID-19 protesters and opponents of anti-epidemic measures scheduled demonstrations in front of the headquarters of major media companies on Thursday last week. Dozens of people gathered in front of the building of the ÖRF radio and television company to express their opposition to what they say is misleading or outright false news coverage on the pandemic.

About 20 officers monitored the protest, which occurred without incident. Der Standard daily writes that this was the first demonstration in a series of protests scheduled for several weeks. Under the motto “Your lies are disgusting” similar events have been planned in front of the headquarters of the Kronen Zeitung tabloid, the most widely-read newspaper in Austria.

Other protests have been planned in front of the editorial buildings of the Kurier, Die Presse, and Der Standard dailies, and the Oe24 news portal. Invitations to attend the rallies are being spread through the Telegram communication service.
