Referring to Donald Tusk’s recent announcement of a boycott of the Polish presidential elections, former Foreign Minister and Law and Justice (PiS) party MEP Witold Waszczykowski said that Tusk is a compromised politician who should not be listened to in Poland.

“This is radically undemocratic and anti-civil behavior, despite him being a politician of the Civic Platform. This party used to boast that freedom and civil rights are their main attributes. Meanwhile, Donald Tusk promotes an anti-civil approach,” Waszczykowski told portal wPolityce.pl, adding that Tusk’s speeches should not be taken seriously.

The former foreign minister stressed that through his boycott, Tusk spoke out against the candidacy of PO’s Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and his decision to boycott elections will not help her campaign.

The MEP also said that as the leader of the European People’s Party (EPP) and a politician honored by other important European figures, Tusk should not be announcing a boycott of democratic elections and be speaking out against his own candidate.
