Hungary airs Bud Spencer documentary

The documentary about everybody’s favorite action comedy hero, entitled “Following Piedone” was directed by Levente Király and is the work of four years, portraying the actor through testimonials from friends and former colleagues in four countries and with the participation of over 40 contributors.

Bud Spencer was born Carlo Pedersoli in Naples and was a prolific athlete in his youth: he was the first Italian to swim the 100m freestyle under one minute and as a water polo player he won gold with the Italian team at the 1955 Mediterranean Games in Barcelona.

He also had a degree in law and registered several patents, but was known for his action-comedy movies with long-time acting partner Terence Hill (Mario Girotti). He died on June 27th, 2016 at the age of 86 and his death brought about an unofficial mourning day, with the Italian embassy in Budapest literally flooded with candles, flowers and various homages.
