Komarno hosts international counter-terrorist drill

The drill took place in the buildings of the Komárno fortress on Wednesday, the exercise was public. The joint special forces were coordinated by the special Slovak anti-terrorist unit, the Lynx Commando, which recently helped to take into police custody the supposed killers of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée.

The president of the state, Andrej Kiska and Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini personally attended the event. Special mechanized units and helicopters, such as Bell 429, Mi-171 and Black Hawk Sikorsky UH-60 were also present at the exercise.

According to the organizers the Atlas Common Challenge 2.0 involves more than 2,800 participants and contains numerous simulations regarding possible crises in subways, buses, ships and planes. The counter-terrorist units were practicing strategies against attacks involving chemical, biological and nuclear elements.
