After the beating death of 17-year-old Louis, a French victim who was killed on film by at least five multicultural youths in the city of Narbonne, Alternative for Germany (AfD) co-leader Alice Weidel has posted a tribute to him before French President Emmanuel Macron has mentioned a single word about Louis’ tragic death.
French social media has been awash in posts and tributes to Louis since the video of his death was first published, but France’s leader has made no mention of the youth, much to the outrage of the French right. Instead, Weidel posted a simple message attached to a video of Louis playing guitar, which his family had released in tribute.

Two videos showed the vicious attack inside a construction site in the city of Narbonne.
The attackers filmed the brutal beating, which took place on the night from June 19 to June 20 at a construction site, according to French news outlet L’Indépendant. The video shows them repeatedly stomping on the head of Louis with full force.
In a second clip, one of the youths lies next to Louis, while he is unconscious and struggling for breath, and the suspect smiles for the camera in a mocking fashion.
The video audio also shows the youths screaming curses at Louis and mocking him as they beat him to death.
Louis was found unconscious with severe facial and head injuries, along with bruises across his body. He was placed in an induced coma and died three days later.
Investigators are still trying to determine what the motive was behind the attack but initial reports expect it was a targeted ambush attack based on revenge.
Louis lived in a foster home where he was placed by Child Protective Services.
Since Louis’ death, videos of the attackers have made their way on to social media, which show them on TikTok handling guns, dealing and taking drugs, huffing nitrous oxide, and drinking hard liquor.
Another video has also emerged. On June 12, they also knocked Louis unconscious, approximately a week before they reportedly murdered him.
His beating death may have been tied to reports that he went to the police and made a report about this attack.
A number of politicians have commented on the case in France.
“Louis, 17 years old, was lynched to death with unimaginable violence, filmed by his gleeful assailants, left to agonize through an entire night, and found lifeless on a construction site in Narbonne,” said the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez addressed the case, denying a proven racist motive per the prosecutor and criticizing “exploitation by the extreme right.”
French commentator Arthur de Watrigant said during an appearance on the Europe1 television network that Emmanuel Macron refuses to react to the Louis affair because Macron “no longer has any credibility in domestic politics, and that he knows it.”
Europe1, commenting on the issue, wrote: “Emmanuel Macron remains silent. No public reaction, no press release, no leaks. But at the same time, the head of state reacted promptly on Twitter after the earthquake that struck Caracas.”
Watrigant said that Macron is sticking to foreign policy because “he thinks he still has a little credibility in foreign policy. He wants to end his sad double mandate solely on questions of international politics. So he will only comment on what is happening abroad.”
It remains unclear if Macron ever plans to address the case. However, it is important to note that he addressed the death of 17-year-old Nahel on June 28, 2023, a day after the shooting, during a visit to Marseille. Police shot and killed Nahel as he attempted to speed away while driving a rented Mercedes without a license.
Macron called the killing “inexplicable” and “inexcusable.”
“A teenager was killed. That is inexplicable and unforgivable… Nothing, nothing justifies the death of a young person.”
Mass riots ensued after Nahel was killed, turning large parts of Paris into a warzone, including 5,000 vehicles set on fire.

Nahel was “known to police,” particularly for resisting arrest. Just the weekend before, he had been charged with resisting arrest an astounding five times.
According to information leaked to Europe 1, his police file (TAJ) included 15 criminal records, including driving without insurance and using fake license plates.
So far, no criminal record has been reported for Louis, but instead of mass riots, nationalists have organized peacefully to protest his death in France. This, however, has garnered enough attention to warrant a response from Macron.
