Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is currently the only European politician who is welcome around the world, his foreign affairs and trade minister, Péter Szijjártó, has claimed.

In a social media post, Szijjártó hailed the Hungarian leader as being in a unique position and capable of bringing global leaders together and promoting diplomacy.

“No one in Europe today is in a position to have a meeting with the Chinese president, the Russian president, the Ukrainian president, the Turkish president, and the former — and many believe future — U.S. president in the same week,” Szijjártó wrote.

“The fact is that we are living in the shadow of a huge escalation,” the minister stressed, adding, “It is clear that the tensions in this war, far from being resolved by themselves in the coming period, will become even more serious.”

At the same time, Szijjártó said that the only way to prevent escalation, save lives, and prevent further destruction is to ensure that the parties have the opportunity to negotiate peace as soon as possible.

The Hungarian foreign minister also stressed that, apart from the warring parties, there are three major world political players in the conflict: China, which is pro-peace and already has a peace plan; the United States, which is currently in campaign chaos; and the European Union, which has so far only copied U.S. foreign policy.

Szijjártó said that if two of these three actors were working for peace rather than deepening the conflict, it would create an opportunity for the warring parties to move towards peace.
