According to recent research by the STEM agency, opinions of the Czech citizens regarding refugees remain the same if compared to 2015 when the migration crisis peaked.
Despite the fear, more respondents think the migration issue overall improved over the past two years. Thirty-one percent of them believe it got better, which is twice as much as in 2016.
An out of touch attitude to migrants among Czechs persists. Only 23 percent of them are willing to help refugees, which is about the same as in 2016 and 2015.
Additionally, while in 2015 only 52 percent of people considered the Czech policy towards migrants to be right, now it is 67 percent. Over half of the respondents also stated that the policy is comprehensible. Overall more people approve the government’s approach than disapprove, the majority of them also better understand the government’s actions in this regard.
