The bloodshed continues in the war in Ukraine, with a Russian strike on Kyiv during the night reportedly killing 10 and injuring 70, including a pregnant woman
According to a report from Euronews, 42 of the injured were taken to the hospital, including six children; and even a pregnant woman.
The strikes, which began on Wednesday night and lasted until the early hours of the morning, caused extensive damage in several districts of Kyiv; more than a dozen locations were on fire, and fires were extinguished throughout the night in the city.
A news outlet funded by the Ukrainian government published footage of the attack on its Youtube channel.
The military commander in Kyiv spoke of a coordinated attack, even mentioning ballistic missiles, and ironically remarked, “this is Russian peace in all its glory.”
The capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said apartments, garages and cars had been destroyed in the blasts, adding that children and a pregnant woman had been taken to the hospital. Rescue teams were still searching for survivors under the rubble.
Moscow has not yet commented on the attack.
Efforts are being made to end the war by the Trump administration, but it remains unclear whether an agreement can be hammered out.
The war has led to hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded on both sides, and virtually destroyed Ukraine demographically.
