Hungary’s kayak canoe national team exceeded even the most optimistic expectations by winning nine medals, finishing second behind Germany at the Kayak Canoe Sprint World Cup in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, news portal Origo.hu reported.
On the last day of the event, the K4 women’s team of Dóra Bodonyi, Erika Medveczky, Anna Kárász and Danuta Kozák (pictured above) defended their title in the 500-meters race, the canoe double Virág Balla and Kincső Takács won silver and the men’s K4 team (Sándor Tótka, MIklós Dudás, Péter MOlnár, István Kuli) placed third.
Germany won seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals. This year the Hungarian team even managed to beat last year’s performance when it won five gold medals. In the points table, Hungary was placed first among women’s teams and in the combined points standing.
