On Saturday, at the Eve of Polish 100th independence anniversary celebrations, in Łódź, Donald Tusk called for opposition sympathizers to fight against “modern Bolsheviks”. The President of the European Council now tries to explain his words following a public backlash:
“When I said, that Poles today also can defeat modern Bolsheviks, everyone assumed I was talking about PiS. Even PiS thought so. It was about Bolsheviks, however, and no one else,” Tusk wrote on Twitter.

PiS MP Krystyna Pawłowicz harshly criticized Tusk’s statements: “The ginger BEAST still circles Christian Poland. It ogles, it lies, it schemes, pretends, lurks and waits for the right time and place when it can strike at Poles. The 100thanniversary of our independence is a symbolic time for revenge for it. The Ginger Beast lurks…”
“I cannot believe, that Donald Tusk comes to the Fatherland and the day before Independence Day celebrations his only message are words about “modern Bolsheviks,” commented Michał Dworczyk, the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Many commentators suggest that this increased public activity from Donald Tusk may be the start of a campaign which could lead to his victory in the 2020 Presidential elections.
